March 2018 - Avian Brands Cares, the Indonesian Social Inclusion and Peace Forum (FISPI), and painters from Surabaya tried to create something different that has never existed in Surabaya, namely Kampung Parikan. Parikan itself in Javanese means Poetry, so if translated, the meaning of Kampung Parikan is Poetry Village. In its concept, every resident's house located on the edge of the Morokrembangan reservoir in Surabaya was painted using Avitex Wall Paint and adorned with poetic verses of various words and colors.
Approximately 300 houses are planned to be muraled by a number of artists from Surabaya, with the hope of becoming a new tourist destination in the city of Surabaya. By creating parikan murals on house walls, it is hoped that the community will increasingly appreciate the art of parikan which has started to disappear from the city of Surabaya.
