Jakarta, December 5, 2016 – Avian Brands, through one of its brands, Avitex Wall Paint, launched an online scholarship program titled “Online Scholarship Competition (OSC) with Avitex” in early September 2016. This first online undergraduate (S-1) scholarship competition program in Indonesia is a form of Avitex Wall Paint's commitment and social responsibility towards education.

OSC with Avitex is a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) partnership program between Avitex Wall Paint and MetroTVNews.com as an Avian Brands innovation to foster a great Indonesian generation through the pillar of education.

Novi Christiana, Deputy Marketing Director of Avian Brands, stated, “The selection of education as one of Avian Brands' CSR programs is because education is the most important aspect and a bridge towards a more advanced Indonesian civilization. 'The pillar of education is an investment in building the nation's quality to be ready to face the times,' she emphasized."

Currently, according to Novi, there are still many high school students of equivalent level in Indonesia—especially in rural areas—who are actually high-achievers but cannot continue to higher education due to financial constraints. Meanwhile, the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) era demands Indonesian people to be able to compete with Human Resources (HR) from various ASEAN countries. Therefore, Avitex Wall Paint offers the “Online Scholarship Competition with Avitex” program as one of the solutions.

“With OSC with Avitex, all costs will be covered by the organizer for four years. Even the initial enrollment fee is 100% free. Thus, young Indonesians, especially those who are high-achievers but face financial problems, have the opportunity to pursue higher education,” she stated.

Besides successfully advancing the domestic paint industry, Avian Brands also has another main focus: striving to encourage various innovations that have broader benefits for the community. “Through OSC with Avitex, Avian Brands hopes to open opportunities for bright but less fortunate generations to continue to create and produce competitive young Indonesians. 'Tonight at the Awarding Night Online Scholarship Competition with Avitex, 200 undergraduate (S-1) scholarships will be awarded to young Indonesians,' she said."

Compared to 2015, Novi added, the number of program participants grew significantly. While last year the number of participants was only 5,698, this year in 2016 the number of participants reached 28,099. The participants came from various remote areas, such as Tapanuli, West Nusa Tenggara, Aceh, and even Sabang. This indicates that the OSC with Avitex program is indeed highly sought after by students in Indonesia. Moreover, the online scholarship competition format has proven capable of reaching students in regional or remote areas.

As a responsible company with social awareness, Avian Brands does not only focus on the pillar of education. Novi stated that Avian Brands also pays attention to the pillars of health and social environment in its CSR programs.

The 200 undergraduate (S-1) scholarships for the OSC with Avitex 2016 program were handed over by representatives from 10 universities, witnessed by Avian Brands Deputy Marketing Director Novi Christiana, representatives from MetroTVNews.com, and DIKTI DEPDIKNAS.

Several scholarship recipients felt overwhelmed with emotion and pride, as they were among the 10 best participants. They admitted to being surprised and had sincerely hoped to receive an undergraduate (S-1) scholarship from the OSC with Avitex 2016 program from the beginning.

Amalia Ramadanti, a participant from Tangerang who is entitled to an undergraduate (S-1) scholarship to study at Mercu Buana University, said that her participation in the OSC with Avitex 2016 program was to reduce costs and her parents' burden. "I didn't expect to be one of the best participants. I am very grateful to Avitex and MetroTVNews.com. I hope Avitex continues to progress and that this program can be held again next year," hoped Amalia, who aspires to be a teacher or an accountant.

Another top participant is Evalia Nusaputri. She is entitled to a scholarship in Civil Engineering at Pelita Harapan University and admitted that she initially joined the OSC with Avitex 2016 program just for fun. "But, once I passed the online selection, I became motivated to prepare documents and proceed to the offline test," she said.

According to Evania from Jakarta, her success was a blessing from God. "Of course, this is also thanks to the support and prayers from my parents. I thank Avitex for giving Indonesian children the opportunity to continue to higher education. Hopefully, this program will continue in the future," she said, aspiring to make her parents happy and proud.

Meanwhile, Helena from Batam, another top participant, said she learned about the OSC with Avitex 2016 program from a friend. "This program is really cool, and I am very happy to participate in it. Because programs like this can give us from regional areas the opportunity to pursue studies in big cities," explained Helena, who successfully obtained a scholarship at Telkom University, Bandung.

She hopes that the OSC with Avitex program can be continued in the future. "Because programs like this are very beneficial for Indonesian children. May Avitex become more successful," concluded Helena.
